LIBYA 1997 GADDAFI ALBUM

This official album was released by the Libya Postal Administration in 1997 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the People's Authority Declaration by Colonel Gaddafi. The album was put on sale in the main postal offices of Libya. It included different issues concerning the People's Authority Declaration and Gaddafi's Green Book, and the special 1997 souvenir-sheet with high face-value of 10'000 dirhams, 10 Libyan Dinars (present catalogue quotation around euro 85,00). Total catalogue value of stamps around EURO 192,00.

9.9.1999 ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AFRICAN UNION

Libya 9.9.2009 issue celebrating the 10th anniversary of Sirte Declaration and Moammar Gaddafi, Founder and Chairman of the African Union in 2009.
The issue is made of 1 self-adhesive stamp printed in minisheet with 12 stamps + 1 souvenir-sheet + 1 postcard postal-stationery with pre-printed stamp. Stamp and souvenir-sheet are the first SELF-ADHESIVE items in the postal history of Libya. They have luxury metal gold foil application, embossing and special bright ink printing. The project was managed by Dr. Mohammed Moammar Gaddafi, eldest son of the Leader and Chairman of the Libyan Post Company at that time.

LES TIMBRES DE LIBYE
La chute du régime du colonel Kadhafi en 2011, l’intervention de l’OTAN et le cheminement délicat vers l’Etat de droit ont placé la Libye au cÅ“ur de l’actualité.
La philatélie libyenne constitue un riche témoignage de l’histoire et de la culture de ce pays: ce sont d’abord les timbres de la période coloniale italienne montrant les richesses de l’antiquité romaine, les réalisations architecturales du fascisme et évoquant aussi les combats de la Seconde guerre mondiale. L’occupation alliée permet de décliner une collection de timbres britanniques surchargés ainsi que les valeurs émises par l’administration française, dans le sud, le « territoire du Fezzan-Ghadamès ». La philatélie permet aussi de découvrir le régime du Roi Idriss jusqu’à sa déposition, le 1er septembre 1969 par le colonel Kadhafi. S’ensuit alors une période de 41 ans marquée philatéliquement par l’omniprésence du « guide » libyen.
Depuis sa chute, plusieurs nouvelles séries ont été émises toujours en phase avec l’histoire et la culture du pays: parmi les récentes émissions, un intéressant bloc-feuillet de six valeurs (6 dinars libyens) émis à l’occasion de la Foire Internationale de Tripoli montrant des mets de la gastronomie locale traditionnelle et permettant de découvrir des tajines ainsi que des couscous aux poissons et à la viande.
